Help for the "choices" system.
Note: At any time you cantap here to return to the main Choices page.
Please be aware that this version of "Choices" is for demonstration purposes and the range of choices offered may be modified at any time. Some choices may not work properly, particularly on old devices.
Getting going
The device you are using may have been set up so that after starting up you can see the word Choices centred at the top. If not you probably need to start an Internet browser program - typical ones are called Chrome, Safari and Edge - and type choices.qwkz.uk/demo [or whatever you have been told to use] in the "address bar" at the top..Think of "Choices" as being like walking in through the door of a library. As in a library you can read a news paper, find books of all sorts and probably find a help desk, so the Internet has similar offerings.
All being well "Choices" will present you with a suggestion of something you may like to do. To do that, tap on the blue text "button". To try somethink else, tap on "Do somthing else".
Why use "Choices"?
Well, you don't need to but computers can be confusing. Our aim is to help people with little or no experience of computers and the Internet to get going in finding information and hopefully enjoy doing so. If you have any comments or would like us to add additional "choices" please tell whoever introduced you to the system. No promises about when or if we will be able to help.A bit about privacy
We cannot promise that no one else will see or find out what you do on this computer as it is in theory possible that someone could peek at what you send and receive.Tabs
You will have seen the note about "tabs" under each choice you were offered. Each tab has a label at the top with a description in it. The one currently in use has a white background. Sometimes the description is too long to fit but if you move the cursor over it you will see it all. Also when you do this you will see an '''X''' on the left. Clicking that closes the tab and you are then presented with the previous one used. When you click on a choice a new tab with the chosen website opens on the right. Closing your choice takes you back to the Choices tab.The choices
We hope the choices offered will be useful but suggestions for changes or additions are welcome. However once you are familiar with visiting websites you may like to try opening a new tab by using the '''+''' on thr right of those already present. Then type the link to that in the address bar (the line starting with '''< > << >>''').That is all for now, though more notes will probably get added.
